in Agricoltura - Unità di Ricerca per l’Ingegneria Agraria, set up a first experimental version of the rotor modifying the standard one. Recently, CRA-ING has designed and produced a second version, representing a further evolution, that has allowed the attainment of wood chips with a higher quality. The present study has compared the particle size distribution and the main dimensional features of the scales yielded by the three rotors (standard,
first and second version designed by CRA-ING). The results highlight the net improvement obtained: wood chips of increased size, with a lower apparent density and largely distributed within the interval (16 and 45 mm) characterizing the high grade chips .
