|Abstract in English:|
In the framework of the PRAL Programme the Lazio Region has entrusted to ISMA a study to evaluate the actual availability of agricultural waste in the Lazio area and to identify relevant territorial basins. The agricultural wastes considered were: (a) agricultural woody residues (vine, olive and fruit tree prunings, etc.); (b) agricultural herbaceous residues (straw, maize stalks, etc.); (c) agro-industrial residues (nut residues, olive residues,
grape seeds and skins, etc.). Once the gross available quantity of biomass was evaluated, the net quantity was calculated through in-depth investigations at farm level to ascertain the quantity already used as fuel or matrix to improve organic matter in the soil. However, the particular logistic conditions (such as harvesting, handling and transport technology available) of the individual wastes will determine the economic convenience of waste recycling.
