Riassunto in Inglese:
In the last years, some pesticides employed in maize seed dressing (i.e. the neonicotinoid imidacloprid) have been claimed to play a role in honeybees decline. Since a certain quantities of active ingredients (a.i.) can be emitted from drills machineries during the sowing operation, investigations have been carried out aimed at: (1) investigate the critical points of the machines related to seed dressing particle losses; (2) design a test methodology in order to provide the a.i. losses; (3) determinate the a.i. drift as a consequence of the use of conventional and modified pneumatic drills. Three pneumatic maize drills have been tested in tests at fixed point and in field. The results show that the a.i. amounts globally expelled from the drill fan opening ranged from 600 up to more than 1200 mg ha-1. The results of in-field tests show a particularly relevant reduction (up to 76%) for the first modified drill, as for the second drill it has been lower (37%), confirming the losses reduction with respect to the data obtained from conventional drills. The results suggest that the deflectors could represent a practical solution for the drills in use. Then, new and effective solutions could be developed by the manufacturers for being applied on the new drill models.
