Development of guidelines for implementation of the principles of sustainable agriculture according to EU Directive 2009/128
|This project arises from the collaboration among CRA-RPS (I), RIH (Po), the Faculty of Forestry in Sarajevo (SUFASA) and the Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Plant Health Protection (PHPA), which is the central authority, within Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations.
The need to improve both the technical knowledge about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and the methods for the implementation of its principles in BiH will be tackled by the proposed project. It aims contributing to the BiH progress on accession to EU, supporting the preparation of tertiary legislation and technical documents related to the agricultural sector. Three major activities are planned. The first will develop 4-5 guidelines for sustainable agriculture according to the requirements of the EU Directive 2009/128 on sustainable use of pesticides. These guidelines will be utilized as official documents by the governmental beneficiary for further developments. Through the organization of workshops and trainings for about 50 farmers and advisors and a study visit for professionals (second activity) we expect to encourage the wider adoption of more environmentally sustainable agricultural practices. The planned development of informative materials (brochures for farmers, leaflets, video, webpage) (third activity) will enhanced the knowledge |
