"The results confirm the seriousness and commitment with which the taste Committees carry out their activities, which are essential to protect the quality of virgin olive oils as well as the health and safety of the consumers."
This declared the Minister of agricultural food and forestry policies Mario Catania commenting what emerged from the technical seminar for Chief panelist of the 'Taste Committees', organized by the Council for Research and Experimentation in Agriculture, Cra, with the participation of the Mipaaf.
During the event, held at the Cra-Oli (Research Center for olive and olive oil industry) of Città Sant'Angelo (PE), the results of national audits, which take place every year, were presented. These audits concerned the organoleptic assessments of virgin olive oils, as foresee by the ministerial decree for periodic monitoring and harmonization of perception criteria. All the committees recognized by Mipaaf, including 11 official ones and 55 professional ones, have successfully passed the tests showing uniformity and consistency in the judgments made, relating to the pros and cons of the oils analysed. Also with regard to the variation coefficients, indicative of the tasters’ reliability, the results obtained have been very positive.
"It should be stressed that the results obtained confirm - the Minister concluded - the reliability of the analytical method established on the basis of EU regulation and reward the commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture in supporting and defending the validity of the system, both at the national and international level."
